  • Blitzkrieg = Lightning War
    • A form of warfare used by German forces in WWII. In a blitzkrieg, troops in vehicles, such as tanks, made quick surprises stikes with support from airplanes. These tactics resulted in the swift German conquest of France in 1940 (dictionary.com).
  • Kristallnacht = Night of Broken Glass
    • A mass riot unleashed by Nazis against Jews and Jewish institutions in Germany and Austria on November 9 - 10, 1938 (vocabulary sheet).
  • Mein Kampf = My Struggle
    • An autobiography written by Adolf Hitler. In it Hilter outlines his plan for the revival of Germany from the losses of WWI and blames Germany's problems on capitalists and Jews (dictionary.com).
  • Führer = Leader/Guide
    • Führer was the unique name granted by Hitler to himself, and this in his function as Vorsitzender (chairman) of the Nazi Party. It was at the time common to refer to party leaders as "Führer", yet only with an addition to indicate the leader of which party was meant (wikipedia.org).
